I collect signed vinyl as well. My band signed VH OU812 is my crown jewel. My collection is mostly hair metal, but also other 80's stuff and some 90's early 2000's.

Wow...memories. I don't remember this episode, but i'm sure i listened to it. 1984 was the year this program introduced me to Metallica (they played Ride and Bells), and Yngwie (Far Beyond the Sun and As Above, So Below off of the Rising Force album). I was balls deep into metal and this show was friggin awesome.

Yep, here in Chicago we had WVVX at night that played hard rock and metal and that always been it! Outside of College radio having metal shows. I hosted a metal show at a college station myself in fact and we played it all, classic metal to mainstream metal and glam and thrash and our favorites were black and death metal. Thank goodness for the internet. Outside of WVVX the so-called rock stations here in Chicago have been wimpy as hell!

I was at Ozzfest, too. It was 3 days after my 17th birthday. Like you, my friends and I got out of there real quick when shit started getting real. Didn't get a piece of the fence, though. We just went straight home to Zanesville. Parents were freaking out when we got home as we didn't have enough change to pay the long distance from C-bus to Z-ville. And it's about an hour drive. It's definitely a good story to break out when I meet a fellow rocker.

Danny has literally found me over a hundred different c.d.'s over the years. Top shelf guy.🤙

The big guy with the piece of fence was a guy name of big Ed Bowers, from Zanesville Ohio. He started on the fence first jumping up and grabbing and tearing it down! Fucking unreal that you met the man! He unfortunately passed away a few months ago in 2023. 100% true!

I came so close to getting that Marantz TT but got the VIP Scoutmaster instead - probably would have been happy either way.

I have just found two of these recordings. Dated from 1959. The appear to be from a letter home from a daughter who emerged from ireland to the US. Can’t wait to listen to it . Great little time capsule

He knows his history about our city. 100% true when he says amethyst Street is kind of a ghost town. The record shop is really the only thing there. But it's a beautiful area regardless I live close by

we moved to 2500 Summit, with a much larger space and plenty of free parking in our rear lot as well as more free street parking in front and around the neighborhood!! cheers!!

YES! Metalshop was the best radio show ever! I used to wake up at midnight wednesday night and record episodes for years. I have many I've converted from my cassettes and many I've treaded from mint vinyl rips.

Great memories from my teenage years!!

Walked into NCR a couple months ago. Walk up those steps a couple times a week meow. Wonderful folks & they always have a record you gotta take back home with ya.

U brought back alot of memories for me with that story. I was there as well but u forgot one part and one of my favorite parts. When the crowd kinda split in two groups (before everything got crazy) and started throwing sod (chunks of dirt and grass) back and forth at each other. Great times man. \m/ rock on and thanks for the story.

I have been to Jerry's several times and brought my children with me. Spectacular place.

My friend and me used to spend hours in the Princeton record exchange in Princeton NJ, they used to have all records until CDs came along then little by little they had more and more CDs, soon the records were being overtaken but it was still a fun time, I don't know if they're still there, you know you scored big when you came out with more than one of their yellow record bags full up.
